In a little under a month, the incredible Sarah-Louise Young will be bringing a taste of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe to Lincoln with her fabulous show An Evening Without Kate Bush.

The AEWKB team were kind enough to offer a seat to our Box Office Supervisor and Digital Marketing Assistant Tegan, and she wanted to share her experience ahead of Sarah-Louise’s performance at The Drill on the 22nd September.

“An Evening Without Kate Bush is being held at the Piccolo tent in Assembly George Square Gardens at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe. As with a lot of Fringe venues, it is intimate and lively, and lends itself perfectly to this high-octane, interactive musical and theatrical sensation. Sarah carefully and expertly treads the fine line between tribute act and original performance, as she reverently pays homage to Kate Bush, while displaying an act that is also entirely unique and her own.

Sarah calls out to the audience, asking for them to reveal themselves either as Bush novices, or as the dedicated ‘Fish People’ (Kate’s ride or die fans), and the fairly even split of both makes evident the appeal of this show as a piece of distinctive entertainment in its own right. The recent surge in popularity of Running Up That Hill thanks to Stranger Things may have put a few bums on seats, but I found every Bush song to be a timeless classic, and Sarah’s vocal talent and fabulous stage presence must be recognised for bringing each track to life.

This show was a lot of fun, even for myself and my plus one, who are definite Bush novices, as the gentle audience participation ensured everyone felt welcome and involved. We laughed, we sang, and we howled with the hounds of love!

Thanks to Sarah and all her team for inviting me, and congratulations on the wonderful run in Edinburgh and thoroughly well deserved good reviews. As for Lincolnshire locals, you need to come to The Drill and see this show. Kate won’t be there, but you definitely should be!”

An Evening Without Kate Bush will be at The Drill on Thursday 22nd September 2022, 7.30pm. Tickets are £17.50 at full price, and £13 for students/under 26s.
